Guided Relaxation
Imagine that you are going to walk into an uncomfortable and stressful situation. You're nervous and anxious. You are told to imagine the people in the room nude, as that will relax you.
I am sure you have heard of that before, not sure how well it works, I personally would not find it relaxing……………….. I suppose it is one way of relaxing! I believe it assists people.
Try a quick imaginary exercise: Imagine you are walking on the beach watching the sun set. Use your 5 senses. Feel the sand beneath your feet, hear the waves gently flowing, the birds calling good-night, smell the ocean spray … take a few minutes to completely feel this experience.
How do you feel now? Calmer? Relaxed?
You can try this exercise again by walking into a forest, or meadow or garden …………
Guided relaxation can take up to 30 or 40 minutes. Your mind is kept occupied in using your senses. Yes, it’s a bit like day-dreaming just guided with numerous benefits that improve your life.
