Crystal Types and their Formations
There are a large number of different quartz formations. Many of them may be known by more than one name, as various authors have given these configurations their own specific names... when they discuss their metaphysical attributes and healing properties. Where possible I have tried to detail the most common names that are used

The quartz formations do have a bearing on the properties of a particular crystal, and this may be helpful for you to know when you are weighing up which specific crystal to buy.
Although the type of quartz has a real relationship to how they can help you, the crystal configurations are also a very important part of how they may work to aid your healing.
Its attributes are the most general, with the widest range of uses, as opposed to the more specific powers of the crystals described below.

Cathedral crystals are recognized by their "architectural" form, which bears a resemblance to multiple towers, like those of a castle or Gothic cathedral.
This configuration makes a good healing crystal, especially for heart chakra.

Candle, cactus, and pineapple quartz are essentially the same formation though the latter tend to be stouter crystals.
This unique quartz formation always has a central crystal, that is surrounded by many tiny terminations all over the body of the crystal... and this resembles the way that wax drips from a candle... hence the name Candle Quartz.

A crystal with a single point/termination at one end and multiple points at the other end.
